Cleome brachycarpa Vahl ex DC., it is an annual herb, spreading and branched, up to 30 cm. tall. Stems beset with short stiff glandular hairs. Sepals elliptic-lanceolate, 2–3 mm. long, usually glandular. Inflorescence racemose with a gradual transition from leaves to leafy bracts. Capsules 3–8 mm. long, 2–3 mm. Seeds 0.5–0.8 mm in diameter, dark maroon-brown. Life Form: Ch, Flowering in:———–, Vern:—————, Phytochoria: SZ+SA+SS , The native range of this species is Cape Verde to NW. India. Notes: Wild in Libya, a rare species, growing on stony sandy mounds of Tibesti area, a nauseating smelling plant sometimes grazed by sheep and goats.
