Romulea columnae Sebast. & Mauri / Infraspecifics: Romulea columnae ssp. columnae,  it is a herbs, with small ovoid corm producing offsets, 1-1.5 cm in diam. Stem (scape) leafy, c. 6-10 cm (at flowering), up to 30 cm (at fruiting), cylindrical. Leaves longer than the scape linear, 100-150 x 1.5-2 mm. smooth, recurved, acute at tips. Flowers regular, 1-3 per plant. Perianth segments 8-10 mm long, oblong-lanceolatc, with clear yellowish-green or purplish striations, pale-lilac to white inside, throat glabrous. Stamens half to as long as the perianth, filaments glabrous and hairy at base, anthers basifixed. Style shorter than stamens, 3-lobed, each lobe 2-fid. Capsule ovoid-oblong, hexagonal, obtuse. Seeds subglobose to ellipsoid, 1.5-2 mm in diam, finely ± tubercled, brown orange.  Life Form: G,   Flowering in: Jan-Feb,   Vern:————-,   Phytochoria: MED, The native range of this species is Macaronesia, W. Europe to Medit.   Notes: Wild in Libya.
