Romulea ramiflora Ten. /  Infraspecifics:  Romulea ramiflora ssp. ramiflora,  it is a tuberous geophyte herb with ovoid, 1-2 cm across, bulb-like corm, closely enveloped by brown scales. Stem (scape) 15-30 cm long, cylindrical, hairy. Leaves linear, up to 45 cm long, stout, slightly curved, acute. Flowers 1-6 per plant, spathe lanceolate 12-15 mm long, acute, ± rigid, striate. Perianth segments, lanceolate, pointed, 10-15 mm long, violet in colour. Stamens 3, (1/2-2/3 the length of perianth), filaments slender, filiform, hairy at lower half. Anthers yellow, 2.5 mm long. Style usually half as long as stamens, 3-lobed, lobes shortly 2-fid. Capsule oblong, 1.5-2.0 x 0.7-0.8 cm, obtuse. Seeds darkish brown, c. 1.8 mm diam.  Life Form: G,   Flowering in: Feb-Mar,   Vern:————-,   Phytochoria: MED, The native range of this species is Medit.    Notes: Wild in Libya.
