Origanum cyrenaicum Bég. & Vacc., it is a shrublet with branches 10-20 cm tall. Stem quadrangular, erect or ascending, minutely puberulent. Leaves small, with short petioles, ovate-orbiculate, base rotund or often subcordate, obtuse apex entire and and cartilaginous margined, purplish green, mostly minutely scabrid, ciliate, along the veins and the margin, inconspicuously pellucid-punctate. Floral leaves like cauline ones, but usually smaller. Verticils oblong, few flowered, short pedunculate, slightly pendulous on one side. Bracts somewhat purplish, ovate-lanceolate, concave, closely imbricate longer than the calyx, glabrous, not punctate. Calyx glandular-pellucid and adpressed minutely glandular hairy, bilabiate. upper lip optuse ciliate and sIightly repando-tridentate, lower lip small, bilobed, with long weak haris in the throat. Corolla white, twice as long as the calyx, glabrous, tube thin (slender), lobes suhequal, entier ohtuse, upper broadly 1-lobed, lower smaller and shortly 2-lobed. Stamens and styles exserted.    Life Form: Ch,   Flowering in: Oct-Jan,   Vern:————,   Phytochoria: Endemic, The native range of this species is Libya (Cyrenaica).  Notes: Wild in Libya, endemic to Cyrenaica.
