Eleocharis geniculata (L.) Roem. & Schult. / Heterotypic Synonyms: Eleocharis caribaea (Rottb.) S.F.Blake, it is an annual plant up to 12-25 cm,with tufted culms from a compact base, roots white, fibrous. Stem 0.5-1 mm diam., green, with 5-6 obtuse angles separated by deep grooves. spikelet ovoid, compact, 3-4 x 2,5-3,5 mm, many-flowered, nutlet blackish purple.
