Erodium cicutarium (L.) L’Hér., it is an annual or biennial plant, very polymorphic plant. more or less hairy, with stems at first almost absent, then elongated, lying-spreading or ascending. Leaves pinnatisecate, with oval or oblong segments, incised-pinnatifid or deeply pennatipartite. Red, pink or white flowers, small, 2-8 in umbels on radical or axillary peduncles usually longer than the leaves, bracteoles ovate-acuminate. Sepals briefly mucronate. Petals not contiguous, obovate, more or less unequal and a little longer than the calyx. Stamen filaments glabrous, linear-lanceolate, without teeth at the base, beak 2-4 cm, edges at 5-8 turns. The long seed-pod, shaped like the bill of a stork, bursts open in a spiral when ripe, sending the seeds (which have long tails called awns) into the air.  Life Form: Th,   Flowering in: Mar-Apr,   Vern: Dahmiyet El-Ghazl,   Phytochoria: Cosm, The native range of this species is Macaronesia, Temp. Eurasia to N. & NE. Africa.   Notes: Wild in Libya, medicinal plant.
