Iris planifolia (Mill.) T.Durand & Schinz , it is a perennial, glabrous herb with ovoid bulbs, 1.5-8 cm across and ± napiform tuberous root clusters. Scape very short. Leaves all basal, usually 6, linear to linear-lanceolate. 15-35 x 0.5-3 cm. folded longitudinally with ± eanilaginous, scabridulous to papillate, margin. Spathe lance-shaped, 7-20 cm long. Flowers 1-2 in a membranous spathe, scented, violet or lilac, 4 cm long. Perianth segments undulate., the outer oblong, cuneate with the upper c. V4 re flexed on a short calw. Stamens 3, filaments filiform, as long as to slightly longer than anthers. Anthers linear 0.8-2.2 cm long. Stigma petaloid, erect, 2-6 cm long. Capsule sub trigonous, narrowed, with rounded base, 2.5-4.5 x 1-1.5 cm. Seeds brownred, obovoid-subglobular, 5-6 mm long.  Life Form: G,   Flowering in: Oct-Feb,   Vern:——————,   Phytochoria: MED, The native range of this species is W. & Central Medit.  Notes: Wild in Libya.
