Mentha longifolia (L.) L., Mentha longifolia (L.Huds., it is a perennial herb up to 40-60 (-90) cm tall. Musky scented. Stem erect white or grey villous, sparsely hairy, simple or branched above. Leaves, 30-90 x 15-30 (-40) mm, sessile or sub sessile, smooth or slightly rugose near the base, often oblong-elliptic or lanceolate, acute or acuminate, irregularly serrate, green and hairy above, grey – or white tomentose beneath with simple hairs, verticils many, usually congested forming a terminal often branched spike 3-10 cm x 10-15 mm. Bract small. Calyx (1-) 1.5-3 mm, narrowly campanulate, base hairy teeth sub equal. Pedicels hairy. Corolla lilac or white hairy on outside. Stamens usually exserted. fertile anthers 0.28-0.38 mm. Nutlets 0.54 – 0.79 mm. Life Form: H,   Flowering in: May-Jul,   Vern: Tinhart,   Phytochoria: S.Cosm, The native range of this species is Macaronesia, Temp. Eurasia to S. Africa.   Notes: Wild in Libya, medicinal plant.
