Ononis hispida Desf. / Infraspecifics: Ononis hispida  ssp. arborescens (Desf.) Sirj., it is a small shrub, up to 60 (-150) cm long. erect to spreading, hispid. Leaves (1-) 3-foliolate, leaflets 5-15 mm long, elliptic, ovate or obovate, obtuse, dentate. Flowers pink. (10-) 13-20 mm. shortly pedicellaic, borne singly at each node, in lax, terminal racemes, bracts mostly without leaflets, stipule-like, mueh exceeding the pedicels. Calyx campanulate with teeth 2.5-3.5 times as long as the tube, pubescent, somewhat viscid. Corolla as long as to exceeding the calyx, standard pubescent. Pods 6-7 x 3 (-3.5) mm, about as long as the calyx, oblong, (1-) 2-seed. Seed c. 1.5 mm, black.  Life Form: N.Ph,   Flowering in: Feb-Jun,   Vern:————-,   Phytochoria: MED, The native range of this species is Sicilia, N. Africa.    Notes: Wild in Libya.
