Ononis spinosa L., it is a perennial herb or shrublet, up to 60 cm long, erect or ascending, usually spiny, variously hairy and sparsely glandular. Leaves (1-) 3-foliolate, leaflets obovate to oblong, denticulate, 5-20 x 3-10 mm. Flowers shortly pedicellate, usually single in leaf-axil, forming lax racemes. Calyx campanulate, 5-10 mm, with linear-lanceolate, teeth much longer than the tube, each lobe 1-3-nerved, glandular, glabrescent. Flowers pink, occasionally white, 6-10 (.15) mm long, standard often purpl.e-veined. Pods ovate, glandular hairy, 1-3-ovuled, seeds orbicular, tubercled or smooth, 2 mm.  Life Form: H,   Flowering in: Apr-Sep,   Vern:—————,   Phytochoria: MED+ES=IT, The native range of this species is Europe to Xinjiang and W.
