| Ononis variegata L., it is an annual plant 10 25 cm, prostrate or ascending, slightly pubescent-glandular. Leaves mostly simple, sub sessile, oblong at the corner, folded, strongly veined, saw-toothed, glabrous above, pubescent below, stipules sheathing, oval, denticulate. Yellow flowers, axillary, in loose clusters, leafy at the base, peduncles short, not articulated. Calyx with lanceolate lobes, almost equal to the tube. Corolla extending beyond the calyx. Pod a third longer than the calyx, Pods 6·9 x 4-5 mm. ovate-oblong, hairy. 10-14-seeded. Seeds sub globular-reniform, c. 2 mm, reddish-brown, smooth. Life Form: Th, Flowering in: Mar-May, Vern: —————, Phytochoria: MED, The native range of this species is Canary Islands, Medit. Notes: Wild in Libya, a rare species, or probable undercoated in Libya.
