Romulea bulbocodium (L.) Sebast. & Mauri, it is a perennial plant with ovoid to subglobose bulb form corm, c. 1-1.25 cm diam, covered with brownish scales. Stem (scape) to- 15 cm long at fruiting. Leaves green erect or reeurved, narrow linear. 100-300 x 1-1.5 mm. with ± acute tips. Flowers 1-5 on scape, funnel-shaped, hairy at throat, longer than bracts. Perianth segments large lanceolate, obtuse, 1.5-5 cm long, purple or lilac (sometimes yellow or orange), orange spotted at the throat. Stamens shorter than the perianth segments, filaments hairy. Ovary ovoid-oblong with long style ending in 6-branched stigma. Oblong capsule with many seeds. Seeds orange-brown, broadly ovoid, depressed towards the hilar region, trigonal, but with obtuse angles. Raphe prominent, paler than the head.   Life Form: G,   Flowering in: Jan-Apr,   Vern:——————,   Phytochoria: MED, The native range of this species is Medit.   Notes: Wild in Libya.
