Malva setigera K.F.Schimp. & Spenn. / Heterotypic Synonyms: Althaea hirsuta L., it is an annual, up to 60 cm tall, whole plant hirsute, hairs mostly simple, rarely stellate. Leaves 1-4 x 1.5-4 cm, lower leaves long petioled, cordate-orbicular, crenate or dentate becoming more deeply lobed above, upper leaves almost sessile, palmately 3-5-lobed, and lobes linear, dentate or serrate. Stipules 5-8 mm long, entire, hairy. Flowers solitary, axillary. Epicalyx segments shorter than or nearly as long as the calyx, accrescent. Calyx c. 1.5 cm long, accrescent, hirsute. Petals pink, white or violaceous, c. 1.5 cm long. Mericarps 10-15, glabrous, transversely rugose.  Life Form: Th,   Flowering in: Mar-May,   Vern:————–,   Phytochoria: MED+IT, The native range of this species is E. Central Europe to Medit. and Turkmenistan. Notes: Wild in Libya.
