Ophrys fusca Link / Infraspecific: Ophrys fusca ssp. fusca, Ophrys fusca ssp. iricolor (Desf.) K.Richt. / Homotypic Synonyms:  Ophrys fusca var. iricolor (Desf.) Rchb, it is a tuberous geophyte, glabrous erect herb, up to 10-40 cm. Tuber ovate. Leaves oblong, few, forming a rosette, glaucous. Inflorescence few-flowered. Bracts spreading. Sepals clearly green, oval or sub oval or oblong, usually obtuse, glabrous. 3-nerved, the upper one hooded. Petals greenish or yellowish-green, linear-oblong, obtuse, 1-nerved, glabrous, papillose on the margins. Labellum shortly convex, oval-oblong or oboval or cuneate-oblong, trilobed, marked with parallel, glabrous lines, from base to middle, otherwise brownish-velvety or ± violaceous, totally velutinous, lateral lobes oblong, oval, obtuse, midlobe large, emarginate-bilobed. Gynostemium erect; rostellum obtuse; stigma large, concave and subreniform. Anther obovate-oblong, obtuse and sub incurved. Ovary cylindrical. Capsule oblong, not twisted.   Life Form: G,   Flowering in: Feb-May,   Vern:————–,   Phytochoria: MED, The native range of this species is Medit.  Notes: Wild in Libya.
