Serapias lingua L., it is a tuberous geophyte, perennial, up to 15-35 cm, glabrous, fairly slender, with globose or ovoid tubercles, one sessile, the other peduncle. Leaves lanceolate, not spotted, Flowers light red, medium, 2-6 in short, loose spike; bracts barely matching or slightly exceeding the flowers, Labellum almost twice as long as the divisions of the perianth, provided at the base with a single shiny blackish callus; tongue distant from the ovary, narrower than the lateral lobes combined, ovate-acuminate or lanceolate, light red, glabrous or glabrescent above.  Life Form: G,   Flowering in: Mar-May,   Vern:—————–,   Phytochoria: MED, The native range of this species is Medit.   Notes: Wild in Libya.
