Parentucellia latifolia (L.) Caruel / Heterotypic Synonyms:  Parentucellia floribunda Viv., it is a hemi parasitic annual plant, a glandular or eglandular pubescent, erect  (5-) 10-20 (-30) cm tall, with branched or unbranched stem. Leaves sessile, 5-7 nerved, deeply serrate; lower ones ovate, acute, 5-15 x 3-7 (-10) mm; upper leaves ovate-lanceolate, dentate, palmately lobed. Inflorescence an axillary, spike-like raceme, congested at the apex. Flowers purple; pedicels 0.5-1 mm long. Calyx 12-15 mm long, inflated, membranous, glandular pubescent: lacinae 4-6 (-7) mm long, elliptic-lanceolate. Corolla tube slender, somewhat exerted from the calyx tube; upper lip ovate, glandular hairy, lower lip, spreading, linear. 6-8 mm long, 3-lobed at the apex, lobes 2-3 mm long. Anthers globose, mucronate at the base, pilose hairy. Style filiform, stigma thick. Ovary c. 5 mm long, ovate-elliptic. Capsule enclosed by the persistent inflated calyx, elliptic ovate, 10-12 x 3-4 mm, glabrous. Seeds numerous, less than 0.5 mm long, ± ovate, shortly and funiculate, brownish.  Life Form: Pa,   Flowering in: Feb-Apr,   Vern:—————-,   Phytochoria: MED+IT, The native range of this species is Canary Islands, Medit. to Afghanistan, Sudan (Jebel Marra).   Notes: Wild in Libya.
