Callitriche truncata Guss., it is an annual, submerged herb, 8-20 cm long, with very slender branched stems commonly reddish. Leaves linear, 5-11 x 0.8-1.3 mm, almost parallel-sided, imperceptibly tapering to a truncated and shallowly emarginated apex, 1-veined, dark green. Bracts absent. Stamen filaments short, little exceeding the anther. Styles usually longer than ovary, spreading. Fruit c. 1 mm in diam., almost orbicular, of 4 readily separating, blunt, in winged lobes, sessile or shortly stalked; stalk 1-3 mm.
