| Linaria virgata (Poir.) Desf. // Infraspecifics: Linaria virgata ssp. syrtica Murb. / Homotypic Synonyms: Linaria virgata var. syrtica (Murb.) Durand & Barratte, it is a glabrous annual with simple or branched stem, erect or decumbent, 10-25 (-30) cm long. Leaves glabrous, entire, sessile, sometimes attenuate at base, acute or sub obtuse, lower leaves ternate; upper alternate, ovate-oblong or lanceolate, (8-) 10-18 x 6-9 mm. Inflorescence a densely crowded panicle, becoming lax in fruit; bracts linear subulate, deflexed, bigger than or equaling pedicel. Flowers violet to red purple very rarely somewhat yellowish, pedicel 2-4 mm lung. Calyx lobes linear oblong, 4-6 x 1-1.5 mm, acute or obtuse, glabrous. Corolla (12-) 14-18 (-25) mm (including spur), spur erect or slightly curved, subulate, 10-12 mm long, throat pubescent. Capsule glabrous, rounded or somewhat oblong, 4-6 mm; style 7-8 mm long. Seeds many, somewhat kidney shaped or rounded transversely rugose, c. 1 mm, deep brown-black.
