Anacamptis collina (Banks & Sol. ex Russell) R.M.Bateman, Pridgeon & M.W.Chase / Homotypic Synonyms: Orchis collina Banks & Sol. ex Russell, it is a tuberous geophyte, glabrous, erect herb, up to 30 cm. Tubers ovoid, subs sessile. Stem thick, cylindrical, glabrous. Basal leaves 2-4, compact, forming a rosette, oblong or elliptical to lanceolate, obtuse and frequently apiculate, shortly attenuate at base, cauline leaves 2-4, largely sheathing, limb reduced and acuminate. Inflorescence somewhat compact, few- or many-flowered. Bracts ± membranaceous, ovat-lanceolate or lanceolate, acuminate Flower sessile. Sepals oblong or ovate, obtuse, 3-nerved, deep purple to olive-green, median lobe shortly cucullate. Petals purple, oblong-lanceolate, obtuse. 1-nerved, with two other smaller secondary nervelets. Labellum entire, oval or sub orbicular, somewhat cuneate at base, with crenulate, undivided margin, finely papillose-velvety on the innerside, purple or purple-violet. Spur ± pendent, forming an oblong sac, shortly attenuate at base, half as long as ovary. Gynostemium erect. Anther obovate, apiculate. Ovary cylindrical, or sub fusiform, slightly twisted.
