Anacamptis cyrenaica (E.A.Durand & Barratte) H.Kretzschmar, Eccarius & H.Dietr. / Homotypic Synonyms:  Orchis cyrenaica E.A.Durand & Barratte, it is a tuberous geophyte, erect, glabrous herb, up to 35 cm. Tubers ellipsoidal or ovoid-sub fusiform, sub sessile. Stem cylindrical, leafy from base. Lower leaves few, ± dense. Sparsely arranged near the inflorescences, larger leaves lanceolate or oblong, non-spoited, recurved, acuminate, non-attenuate at base, upper leaves largely sheathing, reduced Inflorescence thick, densely multi-flowered. Bracts membranaceous, oblong, or largely linear, obtuse, mucronate, rose-coloured, 5-nerved. Flowers sessile, large. Sepals red with 4-5 purple nerves, oval, obtuse, sub equal. Petals oblong, or ± lanceolate, obtuse, 3-nerved, red-coloured. Labellum purple at face, shortly and densely puberulent inside, externally glabrous, oval-cuneiform, entire, gradually auenuate at base, eroded-undulate at margin. Gynostemium erect. Anther obovate, shortly acuminate. Spur ± reddish; slightly longer than the ovary, descending, shortly and gradually attenuate at base, twisted, acute. Ovary cylindrical. twisted, prominently 3-ribbed.   Life Form: G ,   Flowering in: Mar-Apr ,   Vern:——————,   Phytochoria: Endemic,   Notes: Wild, endemic to Libya.
