Clinopodium brevifolium (Wahlenb.) Bräuchler & Hjertson / Heterotypic Synonyms: Clinopodium insulare (Candargy) Govaerts , Calamintha incana (Sm.) Boiss., it is a perennial herb, up to 20-50 cm tall, densely canescent suffrulescent, procumbent branches ascending, greyish white tomentose. Leaves petiolate ± orbiculate 0.5-20 x 3-15 mm, entire or obsoletely crenate, greyish white tomentose on both sides. Verticils 2-6-flowered, in loose raceme like inflorescences, pedicels as long as calyax or longer. Calyx 3-4 mm long, with villous throat, bilabiate, upper lip short with 3-teeth, lower lip longer with 2 lanceolate-subulate teeth. Corolla purplish pink, twice as long as calyx. Stamens 4, didynamous, the anterior pair longer than the posterior one. Nutlcts ovoid, truneate, smooth, 1 x 0.75 mm.  Life Form: Ch,   Flowering in: Jun-Jul,   Vern:—————,   Phytochoria: MED, The native range of this species is E. Medit. to Iraq.  Notes: Wild in Libya.
