Lotus polyphyllos E.D.Clarke

Lotus polyphyllos E.D.Clarke, it is a densely silvery-white pubescent shrubby perennial up to 30 cm long,  entirely covered with hairs, except the corolla and pods, with usually, 3-foliolate, crowded, sessile. Leaves, leaflets mostly ovale-lanceolate. Lower leaflets smaller closely placed, c. 5 x3 mm acute. Upper leaflets larger distant up to 10×5 mm, acute, some of them bearing axillary peduncles, up to 14 mm long with 1-4 flowres terminally. Flowers up to c. 9 mm long, yellow, truning brown when dried. Calyx sub equally 5-dentate with upper teeth somewhat longer than the lower ones, ± acute, densely white villous. Corolla somewhat exceeding the calyx. Pods small, up 10 c. 7 x 3 mm, inflated with flat margins and with abruptly deflexed persistent , 2 seeded.   Life Form: Ch,   Flowering in: Mar-Jun,   Vern:———-,   Phytochoria: SA, The native range of this species is Tunisia to Egypt.     Notes: Wild in Libya.
