Orchis simia Lam., it is a tuberous geophyte, perennial, up to 20-50 cm, glabrous, with entire ovoid tubers. Leaves oblong, green, pinkish white or ash flowers, punctuated with purple, in a short, tight oval spike. Bracts much shorter than the ovary, divisions of the perianth connivent in an ovoid-acuminate helmet, fused internally. Labellum tripartite, with middle lobe divided into 2 lobules as narrow and about as long as the lateral lobes, all lobes linear-narrow, and entire, curved forward, imitating a monkey, spur half shorter than the ovary.  Life Form: G,   Flowering in: Mar-May,   Vern:—————-,   Phytochoria: ES+MED, The native range of this species is Europe to Iran, N. Africa.  Notes: Wild in Libya.
