Plantago lanceolata L., it is an acaulescent perennial herb, 30 (-60) cm tall. Leaves thin ± narrow lanceolate or narrow elliptic, 2-25 (-30) cm x 0.5-3.5 (-5) cm, sometimes long attenuate, apex acute, with narrow petioled base, 3-5 (-7)-nerved, appressed pubescent along the nerves or glabrous, entire or slightly dentate. Seapes erect, 15-30 (-60) cm long, twice as long as the leaves, strongly 5-sulcatc, appressed hairy. Spikes dense, short, conical-cylindrical or sub globose, 4.5 (-8) cm long. Bracts usually ovate, 2.5-3.5 (-5) mm long, ovate, glabrous or shortly hairy. Sepals 2.5-3 mm long, glabrous or villous at the margin: anterior sepals connate more than half their length, obovate, bilobed. Corolla tube 2-3 mm long, glabrous, lobes narrow, 1.5-2.5 mm long, lanceolate-ovate, acute or acuminate, glabrous. Stamens 3-5 mm long, cexserted, anthers yellow. Capsule 3-4 mm. Seeds 2, cymbiform, c. 2 mm long, smooth.  Life Form: H,   Flowering in: Mar-Jul,   Vern:—————–,   Phytochoria: Cosm, The native range of this species is Macaronesia, N. Africa to Mauritania, Temp. Eurasia.  Notes: Wild in Libya, medicinal plant.
