Silene vulgaris (Moench) Garcke , it is a perennial herbs. Stems ± erect, ascending or prostrate, up to 60 cm tall. Leaves opposite, entire, usually apiculate or mucronate, variable in shape; lower leaves petiolate, lanceolate with scabrid margins; the middle ones sessile, lanceolate, lanceolate-elliptical or ovate-elliptical, not scabrid or slightly. Inflorescences many-flowered. Life Form: Ch, Flowering in: Mar-Jul, Vern:——-, Phytochoria: S-Cosm, The native range of this species is Temp. Eurasia, Macaronesia, N. Africa. Notes: Wild in Libya, The young shoots and the leaves may be used as food in some countries of the Mediterranean region.
