Ononis natrix L. / Infraspecific: Ononis natrix ssp. natrix , it is a small shrubs, much  branched prostrate to erect, up to 1 m (rarely more) tall, glandular hairy. Leaves very variable, 1-3 (-5-7)-foliolate, leaflets sub orbicular to obovate or oblanceolate, usually 2-3 times as long as broad serrate or denticulate, rarely sub entire, mostly petiolate. Stipules adnate to petiole usually for about half its length, oblong-lanceolate. Flowers yellow, (6-) 10-18 mm. in terminal, loose and leafy raceme like inflorescence (panicle), on usually awned, hairy, 1-flower peduncles, about as long or shorter than the subtending leaf. Corolla about twice as long as the calyx, standard, obovate to orbicular, red- or purple-veined, wings shorter than standard but a little longer than keel. Pods 10-20 x 2-3 mm, cylindrical, beaked, hirsute, deflexed. Seeds c. 2 mm. sub orbicular, compressed, brown.  Life Form: N.Ph,   Flowering in: Jan-Apr,   Vern: Sdedida ,   Phytochoria: MED, The native range of this species is Canary Islands Central Europe to Medit.    Notes: Wild in Libya, Medicinal plant.
