Astragalus fruticosus Forssk., it is a perennial herb, up to 60 cm tall, erect to ascending, stout, white-tomentose. Leaves 15-30 cm long, ascending, stipules 1 cm long, free almost to the base, triangular-lanceolte, acuminate, and leaflets usually 15-30 pairs. up to 15 x 10 mm, sub orbicular to broadly ovate, usually folded, notched, green above, canescent beneath, younger leaflets crowded. Flowers 20-25 mm long, short-pcdicelled, yellow in axillary or sub sessile very short racemes or fascicles of 3-7-flowers, lax to congested, very variable. Calyx campanulate, villose, about half as long as corolla, teeth as long as tube, lanceolate. Pods 40-60 x 10 mm. terete, sub compressed, straight to subarcuate, with strong, straight, spiny. 10 mm long beak, and woooy-spongy, longitudinally nerved valves, tomentose hairy. Seeds 2 mm, reniform.  Life Form: H,   Flowering in: Jan-Mar,   Vern:———-,   Phytochoria: SA, The native range of this species is Israel to N. Egypt.   Notes: Wild in Libya.
