Carex distans L., it is a perennial or rhizomatous geophyte,densely tufted stoloniferous herb 15-100 cm tall. The stems, bluntly 3-angled, leaf sheaths 2-4 cm long; blades 10-40 cm long, 0,2-0,6 cm wide. Inflorescence of 2-3 erect unisexual spikes, the uppermost male 15-40×2-4 mm, female ones 10-30×5-8 mm, spaced out, the uppermost (sub-)sessile, the lowermost with stalks 1-4 cm long, utricle 3,5-5 mm long, beak 0,7-1,5 mm, scabrid, prominently veined.
