Cyperus mundii (Nees) Kunth / Homotypic Synonyms: Pycreus mundii Nees,  it is a rhizomatous geophyte.  foliaceous,erect, trigonous. Leaf alternate distichous, blade foliar developed, greenish, partly adnate scabrous. Inflorescence,  synflorescence terminal, lax, simple, fascicle, with shoot ascending. inflorescence partial of the shoot terminal lax, pedunculate, subsessile. spikelet with rachilla persistent, lanceolate, ovate,  glume fertile deciduous,9-30, distichous, lax imbricate, ovate, navicular, wine-coloured,  apex obtuse, muticous,  veins of the keel 3, smooth,  veins lateral 0-1. Flower,  carpel and stigma 2, bristle perigonial absent.  stamen 3. Fruit: achene lenticular, obovoid, brown dark, brown pale.  Life Form: G,   Flowering in: Apr – Nov,   Vern:———–,   Phytochoria: The native range of this species is S. & E. Spain to Africa.    Notes: Wild in Libya.
