Lathyrus aphaca L., it is an annual herb up to 20-50 cm, glabrous, stems angular, weak, climbing; leaves reduced to a branching tendril, replaced by 2 large leafy stipules, ovate-sagittate, imitating 2 opposite leaves. Yellow flowers, quite small (8-10 mm), 1-2 on non-awned peduncles, longer than the stipules and tendrils. Calyx with teeth twice as long as the tube. Corolla little higher than the calyx, with a black-veined standard, without bumps at the base, straight style. Pod 2-3 cm by 6 mm, oblong, sabre-shaped, glabrous, with 4-5 seeds.  Life Form: Th,   Flowering in: Jan-Mar,   Vern:———-,   Phytochoria: ES+MED+IT, The native range of this species is Macaronesia, Medit. to Central Asia and Indian Subcontinent.    Notes: Wild in Libya.
