Lathyrus cicera L./ Heterotypic Synonyms: Lathyrus cicero  var. tenuifolius Foucaud & Simon, it is an annual herb up to 20-60 cm, glabrous, stems narrowly winged, as well as petioles. Leaves with 1 pair of lanceolate or linear, acute leaflets, rowing tendrils, stipules lanceolate, equal to the petiole. Reddish flowers, quite large (10-13 mm), solitary on peduncles longer than the petiole and shorter than the leaf. Calyx with teeth longer than the tube. Corolla 1 time longer than the calyx. Pods 3-4 cm by 8-10 mm, oblong-compressed, glabrous, broadly canaliculated and with 2 short, non-winged edges on the back. Seeds 4.45–6.86 x 4.42–6.92 x 3.60–4.45 mm, polyhedral (mostly pentahedrons and hexahedrons), smooth, matte. Granite-like cover, with a grayish background with bands and patches of beige, ivory, ocher and black. Thread of 1.15–1.60 x 0.50–0.93 mm, elliptical, occupying 1/13–1/15 of the total contour of the seed. Featured lens, located 1.20–1.75 mm from the thread.   Life Form: Th,   Flowering in: Feb-Mar,   Vern:———-,   Phytochoria: ES+MED+IT, The native range of this species is S. Central & E. Europe to Medit. and Pakistan.    Notes: Wild in Libya.
